Officer Schulz, a lifelong Union Township resident and graduate of Union High School, began his career with the Union County Sheriff’s Office on October 31, 2017. After graduating from the John H. Stamler Police Academy, he was assigned to the Court Security Division, where his daily tasks included transporting prisoners to and from court and ensuring safety and security during courtroom proceedings.

In June 2022, Officer Schulz joined the Search and Rescue/K9 Unit, where he was assigned two canine partners: K9 Jackal and K9 Wally. K9 Jackal, a German Shepherd born on July 21, 2021, is trained in Patrol and Narcotics Detection. K9 Wally, a Belgian Malinois born on May 5, 2016, is trained in Explosive and Firearm Detection. After completing several months of rigorous K9 training, Officer Schulz graduated at the top of his class on September 29, 2022, earning the title of Police Canine Handler.

As a fully trained K9 team, Officer Schulz and his canine partners have responded to numerous calls for service. They have been credited with locating many criminal suspects, rescuing missing persons, and recovering a significant number of illegal firearms and narcotics.
